Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality Concepts
I’ve consistently envisioned immersive environments and harbored a vivid imagination of fully immersing myself in alternate worlds. Armed with technical skills in both film and game development, I hold a firm belief that our limitations are solely defined by the boundaries of our imagination. The realm of immersive experiences extends across a myriad of human sectors – training, entertainment, education, medical and science domains.
Conceptualization of Virtual Reality Library Portal – CEC Makerspace & Media Lab 2016
In 2016, John Macleod, Director at XR Lab, approached me with the task of designing an interactive virtual reality (VR) portal. Our paths crossed during my tenure teaching an animation youth program at the California Film Institute. During our discussions, it became apparent that both of us shared a common desire for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) to inspire and cultivate the next generation of immersive creators. The envisioned VR library portal aimed to serve as a gateway to a plethora of untapped creative possibilities. Macleod outlined four distinct categories into which immersive content would be categorized. The following three concepts were intended to be experienced within the VR headset, offering a 360° panoramic view.
